Founded in March of 2004, the Golf Academy of Ventura County Junior Golf Programs have provided high quality golf instruction & programming to over 3000 youth in Ventura County! Our program, currently offered at 4 locations in the county, delivers year round affordable and convenient golf programming for boys and girls ages 6 to 17. The GAVC Junior Golf Program is comprised of 2 different types of programming, The Basic Golf Program (offered at all GAVC Academy Locations) and The Advanced Player Program (Located at Rustic Canyon GC). The Advanced Player Program, or "APP", is split into two separate programs, Regular and Girls Only (GP). New to 2012 is the addition of Dan Martin's Advanced Player Academy which provides comprehensive coaching, on course instruction, unlimited range balls/practice facility usage, and discounted play at Rustic Canyon GC.
BASIC GOLF PROGRAM
The Basic Golf Program is specifically designed for juniors between ages 6 and 13 that are either completely new to the game or have played for less than two years with limited on-course experience. Beginning in 2013, the Basic Golf Program will feature the US Kids Golf Learning Program which is comprised of 3 levels of achievement - Blue Level 1, Gold Level 2 and Red Level 3. As a part of each level, participants receive a learning booklet with illustrations, golf terms, key points on specific techniques, and a place to track progress. Navigating the Basic Program takes about 1 to 2 years for a new golfer and will build the necessary golf skills to reach an intermediate - golf course ready skill level. Classes are taught in a "game based" instruction format where fun, learning, and skill building are blended seamlessly. In addition to developing solid golf fundamentals, participants learn several life skills, as well as golf knowledge, terminology, and rules. Every month, at each location, participants go through a testing process called an Academy Challenge where they can earn achievement pins for Putting, Around the Green, Full Swing, Golf Knowledge, and Scoring. Upon completion of all 5 elements, they get to move on to the next level.
ADVANCED PLAYER PROGRAM The APP Program is designed for boys and girls that are between the ages of 10 and 17 that have more than one year of golf experience, more than ten 9-hole rounds of playing experience, and have a desire to pursue competitive golf on a golf team or individual junior golf tournaments. Graduates of the Basic Golf Program are also eligible to participate as long as they are at least 10 years of age. The APP Program features 3 levels of achievement, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, which takes them from intermediate level of play all the way to being able to win golf tournaments. Participants learn advanced golf fundamentals & technique, etiquette and the USGA rules, and many other tools for maximizing golf performance. The APP Program features Girls Only Classes and Events, too! |
