We only had 2 girls out there today-Lindsey Beach and Taylor Devine so we took to the course to see how they put all the information we have gone over in class to work on the golf course! I asked them to choose a focus idea that they had control over-Some things we have no control over are: Weather, Score, Bad bounce, Who we play with in a tournament, distractions. Things we do have control over are: Tempo, Good Rotation, Target Selection, and Temper if we miss hit the ball. I called today Success Ball Day as they got to hit 2 shots each time. We decided on a target, every shot, we worked on alignment, and then they took a practice swing with the focus idea in mind. They then got to choose which ball they wanted to hit. It was fun to watch especially because since they both knew they had a 2nd shot, their swing started to improve on the first! If they missed the shot, I asked them what they felt went wrong with the swing, (they always knew and I did not need to say anything!) , and they took a post shot swing and replayed the shot. Once we reached the green, I watched as they putted Rustic’s very fast greens and we went over how to putt fast greens. We also went over what the best chipping options are for off the greens at Rustic.
The best shots of the day from each girl were:
Taylor Devine’s great Drive on #1, her fantastic putt on #2 downhill, 15 ft away, very fast and it just lipped out but her speed control was incredible, Her drive on #3 from the Red Tees of 160 yds-the longest I have seen her hit her driver-Her focus was balance and balance she did! She only had 90 yds left to the green!!!
Lindsey Beach’s drive on #1, her 2nd shot on #1 to 120 yds from the pin, and her chip onto the green with her PW that landed about 10 ft from the pin. We were working on Lindsey’s turn and feeling the club and she finally felt it on #3 ! Her putting also became very smooth and her distance control was impressive.
Next week I believe we are back on the course-So please girls come on out and play the course-You learn golf by playing the course not by just hitting balls on the range!!!
